The proposed development includes:

  • A six lane running track with an eight lane straight and a natural grass infield

  • Combined long / triple jump runway and landing pits

  • Pole vault runway and landing pits

  • Formal parking areas to accommodate 127 cars and 24 cycles, with an additional coach parking area and overspill car parking area (grasscrete)

  • A new pedestrian and vehicular access into the site from the B1278

  • A perimeter site boundary fence around the track facility and car parking areas, with new hedgerow planting to the north of the site.

While it does not form part of the current application, an area within the site is identified as the potential location of a single storey changing facility / clubhouse. It is intended that a separate application will be submitted for this element of the scheme in due course.

The proposed new facility, will be managed as a community asset, for community and business use, and for use by other Co Durham athletics clubs.
